July Note from Allan
Renovations
Our exterior is looking pretty sharp; nice roof-lines, timber framing and cedar siding. However the carpet still is the original flooring, now faded, stretched and lumpy. Perhaps a few of us can identify with this state.
Bit by bit the interior will change to meet our needs as we continue to grow. Renovations can be intrusive, inconvenient and costly. The church body, along with the building, is also experiencing the Lord's hand in renovating hearts. This too may feel painful and awkward, yet it is the Father's love that brings us through this process to maturity in Christ. A brief glimpse of biblical characters: Abraham, Joseph, Moses, David, Daniel, Peter, Paul... shows the deep work of God, to the degree that at times, they seemed to be moving in the opposite direction to God's visible plans. Yet His graceful redemptive purposes accomplish their goals in the submitted and yielded heart of a follower. The bigger the building the deeper the foundations – ouch!!
May we look forward to renovations from a master craftsman and with confidence be able to say, “Driver, move that bus!”
Blessings,
Allan Burney
